I have always known that learning new things is really exciting, but still at times you will find yourself still pretty amazed and awed with what’s out there. There are things that are will catch you by surprise, so the saying “expect the unexpected” should go along here. Just like when I discovered clipix, I told myself it was nothing extraordinary but when I signed up and actually started using it I found out it was pretty amazing.

Well I am the type of person who loves to surf the net. Most of the time I would search for sports articles, music videos, movie reviews and a lot more. There are music videos I would love to listen to over and over again but sometimes it becomes very taxing to search for them over and over again as well, that’s when clipix becomes handy, I could just hit the clip button and viola I can watch the videos anytime I want, less hassle.

I just started using clipix and I found it very useful already, I am sure that as I explore more I would discover more use to it.  Thank to this learning the basics was like a breeze.

Here is screen shot of my newly made clipix account.

Almost two weeks ago, February 13, 2012, to be exact I found myself in the admitting section of a hospital here Davao City. I know anytime I might go into labor and eventually give birth. Two days later I actually did. If you are going to ask me how that two days went I would have to say “Painful”. I thought I was tough and I could take any kind of pain, but the pain of labor  is something else. Hats off to all the mothers out there who were able to endure labor pains and gave birth to their babies through normal delivery, because I was not that strong.

On my second day in the labor room, interval of contractions were between 1 to 2 minutes. I would find myself falling asleep in between those contractions but when the moment I can feel the surge of pain I would snap out of it,  start to cry. When my contractions were at the regular interval of 1 minute that’s when they decided to bring me to the delivery room. I was looking at the clock on the wall of the DR, it said 5:30 in the morning. I know the nurses who were tending to me were really irritated. I was so loud and noisy, they asked me if I wanted to have them call an anesthesiologist to give me epidural injection to ease the pain. The resident obstetrician checked my pelvic effacement and told me it was still around 5 to 6 cms. I have to wait for it to reached at least 10 cms then I could start pushing the baby out.

Almost three hours later I was still in the delivery room, pelvic effacement of 7 cms I thought I was going to die. The pain was too much. I was so relieved to hear my OB’s voice telling the residents to prepare the OR because I am going to undergo the C-section instead. When I saw my OB’s face, she was holding my hands I started crying rivers of tears like a little child. And so they did. A few minutes later I felt the nurse putting my baby in my chest allowing him to feed and I was able to kiss him for the first time, while I was still on the operating table.

Now I am home with my baby with me. Looking back at what I have experienced I must say it was all worth it. Every time I look at my baby’s face and hold him in my arms I fully understand why one has to go through so much pain because in return what will come out after will give an insurmountable source of joy. I do not know if I am going to have another baby in the future, I am not really planning to but if I do I would be willing to go through that same process again, I would not mind the pain at all.

Biophysical Scoring or Profile is a sonographic procedure done to pregnant women usually during the third trimester. This is different to the usual ultrasound procedure done on pregnant women called pregnancy evaluation. In BPS there are points that given importance i order to assess the baby’s condition. These points include the following:

  • Fetal Movement
  • Fetal Tone
  • Fetal Breathing
  • Fetal Heart Rate
  • Amniotic Fluid Volume

A score will be given by the sonologist after the procedure with 10/10 as the perfect score. They have criteria for every point. A score of 2 or 0 will be given depending if the criteria is met or not.

For more information about the procedure you may consult your OB-gyne. Have a safe pregnancy mommies.

How does one know if it is true or false labor? Confusion usually happens to first time moms like me. Most especially for someone like me who is already excited to see her baby. Yes there are times lately that I thought I am already in labor but it turned out to be false.

False labor or the Braxton Hicks contraction is a normal stage that pregnant women go through, although not all go through it. This is characterized by irregular tightening of the abdominal muscle. It is usually infrequent, involves mild cramping and irregular. If it is otherwise it only means one is already going through true labor.
